Rename a folder

Use Rename when a project or team name changes. Bookmarks stay in the folder; only the display name updates. Share links keep working after a rename because access is tied to the folder identity, not the label shown in the sidebar.

Renaming does not change parent nesting, workspace membership, or who can open a share link. If you need a different structure, create a new folder and move bookmarks, or use Move to workspace when the collection belongs elsewhere.

Prerequisites

  • The folder already exists in the active workspace. See Create a folder if you still need one.
  • You can edit folders in this workspace (not a read-only support session).
  • For bulk rename, select two or more folders with the sidebar checkboxes first.

Steps

  1. Open folder actions

In the sidebar Folders list, click (More) on the folder row.

  2. Choose Rename

Click Rename. A dialog opens with the current name selected.

  3. Save the new name

Edit the name and click Save. The sidebar updates immediately.

Tips

  • Names must be unique among folders with the same parent. Duplicate names show an error in the dialog.
  • You can also double-click a folder name or drag a folder row onto itself to open the rename dialog.
  • Select two or more folders with the checkboxes, then use Rename N for bulk prefix or suffix changes.

Troubleshooting

  • Save shows a duplicate-name error — another sibling already uses that name. Choose a unique label or rename the conflicting folder first.
  • Rename is missing from the menu — confirm you selected a folder you own or can edit in this workspace, not a read-only shared view opened from a share link.
  • Bulk Rename N is unavailable — select more than one folder with checkboxes before opening the bulk action.
  • Name looks unchanged after Save — hard-refresh the tab. If a share link was open elsewhere, recipients still see the same folder with the updated title on reload.

When renaming is enough

Rename when the collection is correct and only the label is stale. If bookmarks belong elsewhere, move them instead of renaming a folder into a misleading name. Share recipients see the new title after refresh; you do not need to send a new link solely because the display name changed.
